Mahindra has launched the Bolero Power+ for those who think that the standard Bolero needed more power. This model however, is under four metres measuring 3,995mm in length and is still claimed to seat seven people in comfort, primarily due to the wheelbase remaining unchanged. Buyers will have the option of choosing from three grades: SLE, SLX and ZLX.
Apart from the decrease in length, the Power+ can be differentiated on the outside by a new bumper, blue vision headlamps and body decals. The interior though, remains untouched, carrying over the layout of the standard Bolero as is, along with the dual-tone theme. The seats have a plusher feel as they come with better cushioning for enhanced comfort. Features such as digital instrument cluster, voice messaging system and Driver Information System (DIS) further enhance the convenience quotient.
Pop the hood and that is where you’ll find the biggest change. Instead of the regular 2.5-litre m2DiCR unit, Mahindra has plonked a new 1.5-litre mHawk D70 engine that punches out 70bhp and 195Nm of peak torque, an increase of 8 horses. The utility vehicle maker says that the Power+ is also five per cent more fuel efficient with an ARAI certified mileage figure of 16.5kpl. Transmission duties are still carried out by the trusty five-speed manual cog unit.
Commenting on the launch Pravin Shah, president & chief executive (Automotive), Mahindra & Mahindra says, “In our endeavour to enhance the product value proposition, we have introduced the New Bolero Power+ with the mhawkD70 engine delivering more power, more mileage & a peppier drive. I am sure that the New Bolero Power+, with its overall better value proposition, will heighten its appeal not only amongst its core customers but also excite more buyers.”
