Mercedes New Launch GLC in India At 50.7lakh (ex pune)

Mercedes Benz India has launched its all-new SUV  .The Mercedes Benz GLC is the global successor of the erstwhile GLK, which never did reach our shores. The company has finally entered the mid-luxury SUV segment in the country with this latest offering.

The Mercedes Benz GLC has been offered with two engine options, a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder diesel, producing 170 BHP of power and a healthy 400 Nm of torque, while the petrol motor is a 2.0-liter unit, churning out 245 BHP of power and 375 Nm of peak torque. Both engine options come mated to a 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox along with Mercedes’ 4Matic All-Wheel-Drive systemcoming in as standard.

The diesel GLC 220d 4Matic is priced at Rs. 50.70 lacs ex-showroom, Pune and the petrol variant, called the GLC 300 4Matic costs Rs. 50.90 lacs, ex-showroom, Pune.

The GLC is an SUV based on Mercedes’ popular C-Class sedan and as a result, shares a lot of its construction bits and design cues with it. The two resemble at the front by the use of similar headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, being separated by a double slat chunky grille with the three pointed star sitting in the middle.  The GLC gets contemporary 10-spoke alloy wheels with a high ground clearance, flush-sitting roof rails and also wears skid plates at both front and back.


On the inside, it gets leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control system and company’s COMAND infotainment system with a screen at the center of the dash and a touch pad to navigate through its options.

The Mercedes Benz GLC comes equipped with 7 airbags as well as a park assist system to aid while parking in tricky situations. It gets five driving modes namely, Comfort, Eco, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. It also gets three modes to be selected for off-road driving conditions. These are Incline, Slippery and Downhill.

The GLC will initially be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) from Germany and Mercedes Benz will gradually start assembling it at its local facility in Pune.
